Despite the drizzly dawn and daunting forecast, Shawn and Caitlin’s wedding was glorious. If you are a Vermonter (or are just traveling through the area), you owe it to yourself to visit the Path of Life Sculpture Garden in Windsor. It’s a truly special place, nestled between the Harpoon Brewery (ALSO a special place), and the Connecticut River.
Shawn had visited nearly a decade ago, long before he was engaged to Caitlin, and knew it was the place he wanted to be married. It’s the kind of place built for wandering, and active meditation. My main man Lucas DeSousa assisted me for the day, and we had a great time exploring the acres of rolling lawns and giant sculptures with our newlyweds.
The evening ended with a massive bonfire and the German wedding tradition of Baumstamm Sägen – the sawing of the log. Anyone who was ever tried to cut wood with a two-handled band-saw knows what a perfect metaphor for marriage that is! You push, I pull. I push, you pull. Repeat forever. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
